Prosecutors say Cristina Andres Perfecto was a key figure in their child
trafficking case. She entered the plea yesterday and it could result in her
going to prison for life.
Perfecto and Juan Mendez were charged in November after several men were
arrested for operating brothels in Memphis. Mendez remains under federal
indictment.
Perfecto said she enticed two girls -- 13 and 17 -- telling them they would be
working at a Nashville restaurant. Instead, they were forced into prostitution.
Nine other defendants pleaded guilty earlier this month to a list of crimes
that included child sex trafficking and enticing girls into interstate travel
for prostitution.
